The Pea Stalk

There once was a boy name Brad.

A tired dry milk cow was all he had.

So to the market he went to sell her,

But on the road he met this feller.

A grumpy sort with a patch and a limp.

"Here's magic peas" Said the gimp.

"I'll trade 'em for your dry milk cow"

And remembering Jack, Brad said "WOW!"

With Peas in hand, Brad raced home,

Buried them right by the garden gnome.

The next day Brad woke to a surprise.

A pea stalk reaching to the skies.

"O my Gosh, that is so cool!"

Brad exclaimed with a drip of drool.

Not long ago Jack went up there,

When he came back, he had plenty to spare.

"I never thought this would happen to me"

"Jack's now rich as rich can be!"

So he started to climb the big pea tree,

Towards the giants' gold and luxury.

But not far up he started to waiver,

His taste for gold lost its savor.

"It's much too high to keep on going"

"Way up here the wind's really blowing"

So down he went, Brad the big chicken,

That giant pea stalk gave him a licken.

And that choice followed him all his days,

Scared to try, never garnering any praise.

And now today Brad is quite unknown,

Despite the giant pea stalk he had grown.

So when you're way up where the wind blows,

Keep going and see how far the pea stalk goes.
